Bhubaneswar: At a time when the entire country was celebrating the International Women’s Day, a minor girl student was allegedly raped in Orissa’s remote Malakangiri district, raising concern over the security of the fair sex.
It is reported that the victim, a VIII standard student was sexually abused by two persons when she was returning after appearing her class examination at Gangala high school on Saturday.
However, the matter came to light only after police arrested a person and produced him before court on Monday. The arrested has been identified as Bhakta Ramaguru. Another accomplice in the crime is still absconding.
“They (accused) took me to the forest and raped me,” the victim said. Victim’s brother, Samar Padhi also alleged that his sister was ‘raped’. According to police, both the accused kidnapped the girl and later outraged her modesty her in the forest.
“Ramaguru raped the victim in the forest. His friend, Manoj accompanied him in the crime He is still missing,” Ramkrushna Pati, a police official of Malkangiri police station, said. The victim as well as the accused underwent medical examinations. |
