Bhubaneswar: Police arrested a city-based Baba on charges of brutally thrashing a 6-year-old boy in his ashram here on Tuesday. The Swami, who was an engineer by profession, has been identified as Sarthak Chaitanya.

The diminutive victim, Rajesh Das received serious injuries near his ear and head. According to his family members, the child received eight stitches near his ear.

Rajesh’s only fault was that he sneaked into Chatanya’s ashram—Chinmany Mission—to fetch water. Chaitanya ventilated his anger on the toddler and robbed the child’s ears so violently that the kid received grievous wounds near his ear.

“We arrested the Baba and produced him in court. We are inquiring into the matter,” Bhubaneswar DCP, Himanshu Lal said.
